Introduction to Handpoke Tattoo — Drawing with the Needle
This beginner-friendly workshop introduced 13 participants to the basics of handpoke tattooing as a tactile and mindful form of drawing. Led by tattoo artist and illustrator Sumi Zhang, the session focused on the fundamentals of handpoke—manual techniques, safety and hygiene, and translating personal sketches into simple tattoos. Without the use of machines, students experienced the unique intimacy and slowness of the handpoke method. The workshop fostered a welcoming, collaborative space for those curious about tattooing as both a craft and a creative language.
